അതെ. പോലീസ് ആക്ട് പ്രകാരം, സസ്പെന്ഷനിലോ അവധിയിലോ അല്ലാത്ത ഏതൊരു പോലീസ് ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥനും എപ്പോഴും ഡ്യൂട്ടിയിൽ ആണ്. ഇത് പോലീസ് ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥർ വിശ്രമമില്ലാതെ ജോലി ചെയ്യണമെന്നല്ല. യൂണിഫോമിൽ ആണെങ്കിലും അല്ലെങ്കിലും നിയമവാഴ്ച ഉറപ്പുവരുത്താൻ ബാധ്യസ്ഥൻ ആണ്. ഒരു കുറ്റകൃത്യം നടക്കുമ്പോഴോ നിയമവാഴ്ച ഉറപ്പുവരുത്തേണ്ട സന്ദർഭത്തിലോ “ഞാൻ ഇപ്പോൾ ഡ്യൂട്ടിയിൽ അല്ല” എന്ന ഒഴിവു പറയാൻ സാധിക്കില്ല എന്നർത്ഥം.
Section 17 of Kerala Police Act, 1960: Police officers always on duty – Every Police officer not on leave or under suspension shall, for all purposes of this Act, be considered to be always on duty and may at any time be employed as Police officers in any part of the State.
